Dryden dominant over Thunder Bay in Pink the Rink night

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs used a six-goal second period to help them dominate the Thunder Bay North Stars 10-2 Saturday in their annual Pink the Rink night in Superior International Junior Hockey League play at Memorial Arena.

Eric Stout and Bryce McDonald put Dryden in front with a pair of first period markers.

The GM Ice Dogs then caught the North Stars flat-footed to commence the middle session as Luke Bellerose and Stout both scored before the frame was a half-minute old.

They then tacked on two more in rapid succession to go up 6-0 on efforts 41 seconds apart from Jacen Bracko and Cory Dennis.

After Bellerose added to the offensive onslaught at 12:53, Thunder Bay did get a couple back from Bradley Thrower before Brendan Jay made it 8-2 in the waning moments of the stanza.

Dryden then finished off the romp with third period markers courtesy of Bracko and McDonald to complete the one-sided decision.

Eight different GM Ice Dogs had multiple point nights in the win.

Dryden outshot Thunder Bay 50-29 overall with Isaac Labelle picking up the victory.

Dougie Newhouse started for Thunder Bay and suffered the loss allowing four against on 15 attempts while Brandon Bodnar stopped 29 of 35 in nearly 40 minutes of relief.
