Dupuis posts shutout as North Stars blank Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – The Thunder Bay North Stars scored three first period goals and got a 27-save shutout from Nathaniel Dupuis to blank the Minnesota Iron Rangers 4-0 Saturday evening in a Superior International Junior Hockey League match-up at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

It took Thunder Bay just 17 seconds to notch the eventual game-winner, which came off the stick of Brad Thrower.

They added another just over a minute later on a Brad Arabia effort to go up by a pair early.

The North Stars then tacked on one more with 1:11 left in the frame as the visitors went up by three.

Minnesota opted to replace starter Jackson Nelson to begin the second in favour of Alex Burke, who went the rest of the way.

Thunder Bay did put one past Burke 14 and a half minutes into the middle session on a Jake Robinson marker.

Dupuis did the rest as he kept the Iron Rangers off the score sheet in registering his second shutout of the season.

Nicholas Nigro dished out two assists for the North Stars.

Nelson suffered the loss for Minnesota allowing the three against on 14 attempts while Burke stopped 34 of 35 in relief.
