Lakers’ Zajicek named SIJHL – Play It Again Sports player of the week

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Fort Frances Lakers defenceman Brandon Zajicek has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Nov. 13.

In two games last week, the 20-year-old native of Albertville, Minn., dished out five assists and turned in a solid defensive performance helping Fort Frances pick up a pair of key victories.

Zajicek began by supplying two helpers in a 3-2 triumph over English River on Thursday.

Saturday night he chipped in by setting up three goals helping his side win their third straight outing with a decision over Thief River Falls.

Currently riding a seven-game point streak, Zajicek currently shares top spot among Lakers’ blueliners in offensive production with a dozen points, including 11 helpers. Nine of his points have come via the power play.

His overall totals also tie him for fifth among all SIJHL rearguards.

Also earning consideration for Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:
