Miners’ Dreidger named SIJHL’s Play It Again Sports player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Jamie Driedger of the English River Miners has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Feb. 26.
In three outings last week the 20-year-old Lacrete, Alta., product scored five times and helped set-up another as English River skated to a trio of victories.
Driedger began notching his second hat trick of the season as the Miners doubled up the Thief River Falls Norskies 6-3 in a Family Day matinee at Cochenour Arena.
Saturday night he tacked on another two markers in a 6-2 road triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers.
The English River forward then finished up with an assist in a 6-4 decision at Minnesota Sunday afternoon.
Currently riding a nine-game point streak in which he’s tallied nine times and chipped in with four helpers, Driedger presently sits second on the Miners as well as 10th overall in SIJHL offensive production with 52 points on 23 goals and 29 assists in 49 games.
Also earning consideration for Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:
