Norskies’ Lefebvre shuts out North Stars in club’s 5th straight win

THIEF RIVER FALLS, Minn. – Brock Lefebvre turned aside all 35 shots he faced to post his first Superior International Junior Hockey League shutout as the Thief River Falls Norskies blanked the visiting Thunder Bay North Stars 3-0 Friday at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

After a scoreless opening frame the Norskies picked up the eventual game-winner three minutes into the middle stanza on Jared Pedersen’s initial SIJHL marker.

Thief River Falls continued to press in the stanza and were rewarded with another late in the frame compliments of Parker Simonson.

Third period play saw the home side add one more near the five-minute mark on Aslan Akervik’s first league effort in what turned out to be the night’s final tally.

Mitchell Soderberg dished out two assists to aid the winners’ cause who produced their fifth straight win to start the season.

Brandon Bodnar was busy in defeat in the North Stars net facing 50 shots in the loss as Thunder Bay slipped to 2-1 overall.
