North Stars blank Norskies at Norwest Rec. Centre

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Thunder Bay North Stars netminder Brandon Bodnar posted his Superior International Junior Hockey League-leading eighth shutout Friday as he backstopped his side to a 5-0 victory over the Thief River Falls Norskies in a contest held at the Norwest Recreation Centre.

After a scoreless first frame, Thunder Bay struck three times in the middle session to gain the upper hand on markers from Ryan Mignault, Avery Siau and Turner Santin.

Siau added another in the third for the North Stars, who also saw Owen Belisle score in the frame to cap off the win.

Kyle Auger dished out three assists to aid the Thunder Bay offensive cause while extending a consecutive game point streak to 10 in the process.

Bailey Schmitz suffered the loss for the Norskies, who with the setback as well as with Dryden’s win in Fort Frances Friday, means Thief River Falls will finish second in the SIJHL standings.

The North Stars will conclude the regular season Saturday vs. Minnesota back at Norwest while the Norskies finish off in Fort Frances

Game time for each is 7:30 p.m.
