Kam River Cools Thunder Bay with 7-3 Victory

Thundery Bay, ON – The Kam River Fighting Walleye scored three in the second and four in the third to defeat the Thunder Bay North Stars 7-3 before a boisterous crowd of 1,823.

Ethan Lang and Carson Gorst struck for two each, and Ryan Doucette and Jack Cook had a goal and a pair of assists to lead the Walleye to their 18th win of the year.

Eric Vanska secured his 13th win stopping 42 of 45.

Thunder Bay North Stars rumbled out to a 15-3 shot advantage midway through the first and Easton Glousher’s shot handcuffed Vanska for a 1-0 Stars lead. 

Kam River struck for three in the second. Lang notched two and Cook one as the shots evened up. The Walleye fired 18 shots at Conner Lemieux in the frame.

Jake Parker scored at 14:46 narrow the score to 3-2.

In the third, Ryan Doucette scored the only power play of the game, Carson Gorst got the next two and the Walleye put the game away. Gorst’s first goal prompted a goaltending change as Keenan Marks came on in relief. 

Edison Weeks tucked in his 13th for Thunder Bay. Braeden Duchesne’s sixth at 16:23 ended the scoring.

Lemieux allowed five goals in 36 shots, and Marks stopped nine of 11.

Kam River took eight of 14 minor penalties.
