Thunder Bay, ON – Edison Weeks scored at 0:36 of overtime and Conner Lemieux made 38 saves as the Thunder Bay North Stars defeated the Sioux Lookout Bombers 4-3 before 603 fans at the Gardens.
Weeks had a pair of goals and an assist, and Nikolas Campbell had a goal and helper in his first game back to lead the Stars attack.
Connor Burke had two goals to pace the Bombers.
Nolan Desjardins went low blocker side for his 6th of the campaign to give the Stars a 1-0 lead at 4:36 of the first. Burke stripped the puck in the Thunder Bay zone and zipped one past Lemieux 80 seconds later to knot the score.
The Bombers scored two of three in the middle stanza.
Weeks got the first one unassisted for Thunder Bay at 0:50. Ty Bahm collected a rebound for his 10th, and Burke picked up his second of the game and 9th of the year with a top shelf zinger at 15:51 for a 3-2 Sioux Lookout edge.
Campbell, back in the North Star fold after a stint in the NAHL with Amarillo, tied it up at 4:51 of the third, beating Jake Manners with a low shot blocker side.
Weeks scored a Thunder Bay powerplay with three seconds left in a Sioux Lookout minor penalty to win it in overtime.
Lemieux upped his record to 8-4-3 with the win. Manners saw his record fall to 13-8-1. All of Sioux Lookout’s games had been decided in regulation time until Friday’s contest.
Both teams were 1-4 with the man advantage. Eight minors were called–four per side.
