Week 1: Three Stars Named

The Superior International Junior Hockey League (SIJHL) has named it Three Stars for week 1 of regular season play:

FIRST STAR ⭐️

Nathan Dann, Red Lake Miners
GP: 2 ⋅ G: 3 ⋅ A: 2 ⋅ PTS: 5
The Trail, B.C. native helped lead the Red Lake Miners to two victories over the weekend in Ironwood. On Friday, Dann scored the game-winning goal with under three minutes to play in a 7-6 shootout with the Lumberjacks. On Saturday, Dann’s late heroics continued as he netted the game-tying third-period goal in an eventual OT win for the Miners.

SECOND STAR ⭐️⭐️

Max Roby, Dryden Ice Dogs
GP: 2 ⋅ G: 3 ⋅ A: 0 ⋅ PTS: 0
Coming off a defeat on Saturday in which Roby scored, the tone was set early for the Ice Dogs as he scored two int he opening frame, en route to a 4-1 win. The Brainerd, Minn. native finished the opening weekend with three goals in two games.

THIRD STAR ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Larry Flett, Kenora Devil’s Gap Islanders
GP: 2 ⋅ G: 3 ⋅ A: 0 ⋅ PTS: 3
Flett (Prince Albert, Sask.) scored the first and only goal for the Islanders on Friday. The Islanders bounced back on Saturday earning the 3-3 tie in Fort Frances behind Flett’s pair of goals.
