North Stars’ netminder Elliot named SIJHL – Play It Again Sports player of the week
THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Thunder Bay North Stars goaltender Jordan Elliot has been named its Play It Again Sports player of the week for the period ending Feb. 5.
In two starts last week, the 19-year-old native of Fargo, N.D., won both of them including posting his first SIJHL shutout along the way.
Elliot began by stopping all 30 shots he faced to backstop Thunder Bay to a 4-0 home ice victory over the visiting Fort Frances Lakers Wednesday at the Fort William Gardens.
He then followed that up by turning in another solid effort Friday keeping the league-leading Dryden GM Ice Dogs off the score sheet until a power play goal late in regulation as the North Stars earned a 3-1 triumph, which saw him save 21 of the 22 attempts fired his way.
On the season, Elliot boasts an 11-5-0-0 record and sits third overall among SIJHL netminders in goals-against average at 2.82 and second in save percentage at .918.
Also earning consideration for Play It Again Sports player of the week honours were the following:
