Gerrie has 2 as North Stars pick-up road win vs. Iron Rangers

HOYT LAKES, Minn. – Keigan Gerrie scored twice to help send the Thunder Bay North Stars to a 4-1 road victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League action Thursday evening at Hoyt Lakes Arena.

The majority of the game’s offensive production was supplied in the first period with four of the five tallies being scored there.

Gerrie opened the scoring for Thunder Bay just past the three minute mark of the opening frame as he found the back of the net for a third straight outing.

Zac Horn would level the proceedings for the Iron Rangers at 7:38 as he picked up his 12th goal of the season with assists going to Max Sturko and Anthony Beltrame.

Down a man later in the session, Owen Belisle struck shorthanded for the North Stars as his 10th SIJHL tally proved to be the eventual game-winner.

Gerrie then added his second of the night and 16th overall at 13:41 as the visitors took a 3-1 lead after 20 minutes.

Both clubs tightened up defensively after that as there was no further scoring until late in regulation when Jake Behse secured the decision for Thunder Bay with an empty netter with 1:21 to go wrap things up.

Joe Newhouse and Alex Maticic has two assists each for the North Stars.

Brandon Bodnar made 41 saves to record the win for Thunder Bay with Rob Ivy turning aside 35 of 38 in defeat for Minnesota.
