North Stars crush Iron Rangers for 6th straight win

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – Thunder Bay North Stars defencemen Kyle Auger scored four times and added an assist while teammate Brendan Gillis joined him with a five-point night as the duo led their side to a one-sided 13-0 triumph over the Minnesota Iron Rangers in Superior International Junior Hockey League play Wednesday at the Fort William Gardens.

The North Stars took early control of the contest as they skate out to a 4-0 lead after one period of play on a pair of tallies from Michael Stubbs, along with singles off the sticks of Josh Bryant and Auger.

It was more Thunder Bay in the middle session as they tacked on four more goals supplied by Auger, Alex Erwin, Jacob Anttonen and Ryan Mignault.

They then finished off the romp in the third and Auger put in two more while Gillis, Bryant and Michael Vecchio also found the back of the net.

North Stars netminder Brock Aiken picked up his 14th consecutive victory making 14 stops in the triumph for the league-leading North Stars while posting his SIJHL-best third shutout.

Synjen Amende and Nick Corneliusen both saw time in net in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
