North Stars’ Dowswell named SIJHL Equipment Manager/Trainer of the Year

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Superior International Junior Hockey League announced today that Don Dowswell of the Thunder Bay North Stars has been named its recipient of the 2019-20 SIJHL Equipment Manager/Trainer of the Year Award.

This honour is presented annually in recognition of an individual on the training/equipment staff of one of the SIJHL’s member clubs for their efforts, in this capacity, during the campaign.

Dowswell has been a fixture behind the North Stars’ bench for a number of years.

He remains a key cog in his club’s success, aptly looking after the team’s training and equipment management responsibilities while keeping the dressing room immaculate during the campaign and having everything ready to go for practices and games, both home and away.

“Don is certainly well deserving of this honour,” stated SIJHL commissioner Bryan Graham.

“Like the majority of the equipment managers and training personnel in our league, he does tremendous and unheralded work for the betterment of our players, right across the board,” added Graham.

“We commend Don on his award and thank him for his commitment to the SIJHL.”
