North Stars knock off Iron Rangers

THUNDER BAY, Ont. – The Thunder Bay North Stars got a goal and two assists from Ryan Walsh to help lead them to a 5-1 victory over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Saturday in Superior International Junior Hockey League action at the Fort William Gardens.

Jake Robinson’s first of the season gave Thunder Bay the lead as he notched the lone tally of the opening frame.

The North Stars made it 2-0 after two when Brendan Gillis scored midway through the contest.

Tyler Minoletti then made it 3-0 early in the third before Jack Stensgard got one back for Minnesota at 4:40.

Regrouping, Thunder Bay saw Walsh and Brad Arabia connect five minutes apart later in the frame to round out the scoring.

Nathaniel Dupuis made 24 saves to register the win while Sean Angle faced 45 shots in defeat for the Iron Rangers.
